Kindergarten is off and running. We are reviewing our letter sounds and working very hard on vowels. Please take every opportunity to reinforce letter sounds at home. At dinner time and when out and about ask your child what letter items start with (ex. banana starts with the "b" sound which is the letter b.) We also are still struggling with the "teen" numbers and I will be sending these numbers home for practice next week.
T-shirts will be ordered soon and our first field trip will be the end of September - watch for more details to come.
Alex the bear goes home with a different child every Friday and your child will be writing (with your help) all the activities he has experienced with you. Please let your child illustrate all the happenings.

It's time for sun and warmth and flowers. Hopefully we will have no more SNOW! The children and I will be talking about some warm weather and the letter "W" this week. Our trip to the bounce zone left everyone all bounced out and ready for the weekend.

We will be having a spring fund raiser in April/May. Instead of buying your annual flowers at the local retail store, consider helping your class with purchasing much needed classroom items. The Johnson Nursery has offered to join with us in availing annual flowers with 20% of the sale going to PLA. A list of annual flowers will be available about April 15th. You will be able to order from your school and when you are ready to plant your flowers you wll be able to go to Johnson's Nursery to pick up your order. Look for details to follow.

SPRING IS ON THE WAY.

WOW! Lots of snow days! Even though some students haven't been here all of the days we have had off, we are still moving right along. We have finished letter"s" and are ready to begin letter "r". So far we have studied 13 letters and 14 numbers. We have also worked hard on right and left, before and after, small, smaller, smallest and big, bigger, biggest. Our next task is to begin measuring and three step sequencing.

We are looking forward to our next field trip to the Cookeville Children's Museum on January 28th. Please don't forget to bring your child's booster seat.

Pre-K is helping Ms. Virginia's class decorate the large bulletin board outside our classroom - take a peek at the beautiful snow laced trees and snowflakes!

Our Pre-K class is working hard to earn dollars for good listening and good choices. At the end of the week we go shopping. I use McDonald toys, Dollar Tree toys, sometimes recycled (in good condition) toys. If you could help fill the shopping box, if would be greatly appreciated. Also when going through your old Halloween costumes if there is an outfit that you would like to donate to our dress-up center the children would love your donation.

Thank you for your support.

Ms. Gail
